Course Outline
Dear Students and Parents/Guardians-
Welcome to 7th Grade Health. Over the next 10 weeks we will be covering the following topics…
- The 5 Gateway Drugs and the dangers of each.
- Refusal Skills
- Assertiveness Skills
- Healthy Communication Skills
- Decision Making
- Bullying
- Puberty
- Hygiene
- Male and Female Reproductive Systems
- Personal and Family Values and Beliefs
- Benefits of Choosing Abstinence
- STD’s
- HIV/AIDS
Some of these topics may be uncomfortable for some students and we strongly encourage open communication at home regarding these topics. We feel discussion at home prior to, may help to ease the students into the subject matter. If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact us at 926-1730 Ext. 3228.

Quarterly Grading Policy
Tests = 60%
Quizzes and Group Projects = 20%
Class work and Homework = 20%
Class work/ Homework Policy
It is the student’s responsibility to make up any missed assignments or tests. Check this webpage for any missed assignments. When you return to class from an illness, music lesson, guidance appointment…you must check this page and makeup any outstanding work and hand it in as soon as possible. If you are going to be out for an extended number of days please see me for any work you will need to complete. I do my very best not to assign homework. I will ask for a few parent signatures and I do expect everyone to study for tests, but if the class is attentive and cooperative homework assignments will not be given. Class Assignments will be graded according to the FMS Homework Policy.
FMS Homework/Classwork Policy.
Assignment FULLY completed as directed = 2
Assignment partially completed or directions not followed=1
Assignment not handed in/no effort/half incomplete = 0
Rules to Follow
1. Respect Me, Respect your Peers, Respect Yourself,
2. Respect others belongings
3. Come to class with all of your Supplies
4. Take responsibility for yourself
Consequences
1. Verbal Warning
2. Call Home
3. Office Referral
After you and a parent/ guardian have read and fully understand your expectations in Health Class please complete and sign the responsibility sheet and return to me.
