• My expectations for speech-language therapy follow the classroom expectations and can be divided into two main categories.  The first is listening skills or what is referred to as “Body Check” in the classrooms. The second is the Blasdell Elementary School Guidelines for Success.

    1.) Body Check Skills

The “Body Check Skills” are important strategies that promote better listening.  Listening skills are essential for optimal learning. The Body Check Skills include:

    • Mouths are quiet.
    • Eyes on the speaker.
    • Ears are listening.
    • Hands are down.
    • Bodies are still.

2.) Blasdell Elementary School Guidelines for Success

The Blasdell Elementary School Guidelines for Success are a set of expectations for all students that help to promote a positive and safe educational environment.  These rules include:

    • I will be a model of the Golden Rule by treating others the way I want to be treated.
    • I will keep my hands, feet and all other objects to myself.
    • I will always work to the best of my ability.
    • I will respect the personal space, rights and property of others.
    • Stop, Look, Listen: I will follow the directions given by adults immediately.
